Job Title: Assistant Project Manager Department: Project Implementation and Operations Entity: SSUS Reports To: Project Director Location: Hybrid, California or Texas Position Summary: The Assistant Project Manager, Energy Storage will work with the Sr. Project Manager preparing and executing the development and implementation of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects from Limited Notice to Proceed activities through to Final Completion. This will include establishing and maintaining project management processes such as tracking client submittal obligations, development of customer client interfaces, managing and supporting the transfer of information between client and customer, coordinating activities and meetings with various stakeholders including internal depatments, the client / owner, equipment vendors, EPC’s and general contractors and various subcontractors to provide a ‘turn-key’ BESS project. Knowledge of energy storage systems, engineering principles, project management processes, construction management processes, electrical codes and integrated photovoltaic and battery system applications would be highly desirable. Experience with project execution processes are essential. Responsibilities: Assist in the managment the execution of one or more cross-functional projects of medium to high complexity (quality, scope, schedule, cost, communication, resource issues, risks and customer satisfaction). Assist the Sr. Project Manager for assembling project plans and teamwork assignments, directing and monitoring work efforts on a daily basis, identifying resource needs, performing quality review, and escalating functionality, quality, timeline issues appropriately. Effectively develop and communicate project status updates in a clear and concise manner. Manage communication flow for contract submittals, project reporting, invoicing, vendor submittals and other documentation between customer, project team, and suppliers. Support subcontractor operations daily through coordination and scheduling. Take ownership of the subcontractor schedule including job flow and customer experience. Actively participate in developing and maintaining online business management tools used for the development and execution of all projects; Identify areas for process improvement and assist with creating and revising the process to ensure better efficiency and client experience. Coordinate full-scale project plans and associated communications documents. Assist in the management of construction permitting activities and ensure that all required construction permits have been obtained. Support Sales and Application Engineering team with due diligence of Storage project opportunities. Develop best practices and tools for project execution and management. Ensure that the site construction activities adhere to established safety requirements and construction protocols. Maintain and report monthly of project budget and payment status. Complete other duties and projects as assigned. Requirements: Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical) degree or diploma preferred Minimum 3 years’ experience in managing or assisting in construction projects, with preference for experience in utility scale renewable projects Solid and effective interpersonal and communication skills (including oral, written and visual) Strong organizational and time management skills; Acute awareness and ability to manage to deadlines. Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project Knowledge of general and national codes, medium voltage power systems and photovoltaic or Energy Storage system applications is beneficial. Must possess a valid driver’s license with a driving record. Must be able to travel to domestic locations as needed per project.
