Job Description – SCADA/Network Engineer Location: Remote Overview: This role will primarily support the existing and upcoming renewable fleet at Silicon Ranch. This position can be fully remote and will be filled at a level and job classification to commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. The successful candidate will be a member of the SCADA/Networking Support team. Main Responsibilities: Maintain the Ignition SCADA system including backups, AV updates, OS patching, and software updates. Work with business partners to support IC and SCADA systems to maintain reliable operations. Provide project oversight and support new projects. Provide support to remote/onsite IC and SCADA systems and solar field technicians. Assist in developing and maintaining company standards for SCADA and HMI. Assist with maintaining hardware and software lifecycle models for existing projects. Setup and configure desktop and Windows Server OS systems as required for project support. Setup and configure firewalls and site network switches as required for lifecycle upgrades. Setup and configure Microsoft SQL and MySQL databases as required for project support. Setup and configure SCADA software packages, such as Ignition as required for project support. Provide support and troubleshooting for Windows desktop/server systems and Microsoft SQL and MySQL database servers. Assist with server hardware troubleshooting and repairs. Participate in general and project meetings. Ensure change management processes are followed. Reporting: Position Reports to Senior SCADA Engineer Qualifications: Working knowledge of the following: Hypervisors SQL databases Industrial automation communication protocols (e.g. Modbus, OPC, DNP3) Programming; Python or other scripting language a plus Computer-aided drawing (CAD); AutoCAD or Microsoft Visio a plus Solid troubleshooting skills required Proficiency in the use of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access, and other office applications Proven interpersonal and communication skills Proficiency with Windows Desktop and Server Administration High-level understanding of networking and firewalls, including concepts such as NATs and VLANs, and experience using tools such as Wireshar Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering (ABET accredited), Computer Science, Information Systems, or related technical degree Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Industrial Controls, Networking, or related technical degree Experience: Windows Desktop and Server operating systems administration experience strongly preferred. Experience programming firewalls, especially Palo Alto and Fortinet is desired. Experience with plant control systems, RTACs, Allen Bradley PLCs, etc. is a plus. Experience with SCADA system and/or HMI screen development is a plus. Ignition SCADA integration or configuration experience a plus. Troubleshooting communications and/or network issues associated with plant controls desired. Experience in organizing and managing multiple projects at the same time. Experience with data management techniques to access, integrate, and present data from multiple sources is desired. Experience with the following software platforms desired: Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL Server, VMware or Microsoft Hypervisors, and Windows Server Experience with the following enterprise systems: Active Directory, iSCSI, DNS and DHCP Experience with security practices and configuration of Windows servers. Knowledge of server and workstation grade hardware and iDRAC configuration preferred.
