Senior Technical Engineer - Solar Industry

Job Description:

Responsible for providing technical assistance to Solar clients who are undergoing issues by troubleshooting and resolving technical problems. Conduct client site review and troubleshooting providing appropriate solutions. Partner and collaborate with Sales and Logistics Teams to provide technical knowledge and resources.

  • Manage internal/external engineering resources to provide engineering support for residential, commercial, and utility photovoltaic (PV) sales in the US
  • Partner with the Sales and Logistics team; provide technical support for all sales and site related questions and customer requests
  • Perform site visits and assessments to gather essential data, evaluate potential project risks, and identify opportunities for project optimization. Analyzes customer needs to determine appropriate solutions for complex technical issues
  • Conduct thorough technical assessments, feasibility studies, and energy yield predictions for proposed solar PV projects to ensure optimal system performance
  • Work closely with regulatory bodies and local authorities to ensure adherence to all relevant codes, standards, and permitting requirements for PV projects.
  • Prepare detailed technical documentation, project reports, and performance evaluations, providing accurate and timely project status updates to relevant stakeholders.
  • Lead technical due diligence, conducting technical analyses, feasibility studies, and energy yield predictions for Requests for Proposal (RFP), working with factory and HQ in document preparation for RFP packages
  • Communicate with 3rd party test laboratories (PVEL, RETC, Intertek) on the certification support, customer requests, help to better plan for the internal certification arrangement
  • Communicate with customers IEs on technical due diligence, identify the challenges from competitors
  • Negotiation with long-term investors for project valuation; including but not limited to factors such as design and equipment choices, technical site conditions, production estimate, and EPC cost estimate
  • Travel required – 25%

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably with a focus on solar, renewable energy, or electrical engineering
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in solar engineering, with a proven track record of successful solar PV system design and implementation

  • Proven experience as a PV Engineer or in a related solar energy role within the EPC industry
  • Familiarity with solar PV equipment, including solar modules, inverters, and mounting systems, as well as industry standards and regulations
  • A proactive and result-oriented approach, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
